Trust Your Gut
Thinking more about your digestive health these days? If so, you’re in good company! According to research, digestive and gut health rank among the top five health benefits people look for from their food and beverage choices. And interest isn’t isolated to one age group, gender, or background.
Below Kristi Kline, a registered dietitian, shares more about the role gut health plays in our overall wellbeing.
Support Your Whole Self
Good gut health is about more than digestion. It can support your immune system, your mental clarity, your mood, your energy levels, and your long-term health! “The gut is a central player in whole-body health,” says Kristi (pictured). “A thriving digestive system can influence heart health, cognitive function, metabolism, and even reduce the risk of anxiety and depression.”
The Unsung Hero: Fiber
While prebiotics and probiotics tend to grab the headlines, good old dietary fiber plays a key role in gut health. Whole plant foods—like beans, berries, whole grains, and leafy greens—are great sources. Unfortunately, most people fall short of the amount of fiber they should be eating.
